Fit 4 AI

An assessment carried out by a referenced consultant, which identifies and ranks the AI use cases relevant to your company and results in a costed action plan.

Conditions and procedure

Who can apply: Companies of all sizes holding a valid business permit, with their registered office in Luxembourg and a main economic activity. Since October 2026, the programme is no longer limited to SMEs.
What the assessment covers: Identifying and ranking use cases, feasibility, costs and benefits, governance and compliance, then recommendations and a costed action plan. Implementation is not covered.
Eligible costs: The referenced consultant’s fees, based on a prior quote that complies with the programme specifications. Travel and other incidental costs are not eligible.
Luxinnovation’s role: Mandatory: Luxinnovation helps you prepare the project, checks that the quote complies and files the application on MyGuichet.lu on your behalf.
The consultant: They must be listed in the directory of consultants referenced for Fit 4 AI, available on Luxinnovation’s website.
When to apply: Before any commitment: the consultant’s quote must not be signed before the application is filed. You sign it once you have received the filing receipt.
Decision and payment: The Ministry of the Economy notifies its decision within two months of receiving the complete file. After the assignment has been carried out and paid, you request payment on MyGuichet.lu with the invoices, proof of payment and the final report.

SME Packages – AI

Support from the Ministry of the Economy to put in place, as part of a simple project, an existing AI solution suited to the company’s needs.

Conditions and procedure

Who can apply: SMEs holding a business permit issued by the Ministry of the Economy, with their registered office in Luxembourg.
Eligible projects: Assessing your current use of AI and integrating an existing solution into your processes, for example to lighten repetitive tasks. The specific use case is confirmed during the pre-analysis.
Eligible costs: They are not detailed on Guichet.lu: they are specified during the pre-analysis and in the approved quote.
Procedure: A pre-analysis is mandatory, at the House of Entrepreneurship (Chamber of Commerce) or the eHandwierk service (Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts, for craft businesses). You then choose the provider and agree the quote; the ministry reviews and approves the application; the provider implements the solution; an evaluation meeting closes the file.
When to apply: Before starting: the pre-analysis and the ministry’s approval come before implementation. Do not commit to the project before this approval.
Payment: After implementation: you pay the provider’s final invoice, then the ministry reimburses 70% of the eligible costs.

Wait for the go-ahead
Commit no spending before the application is filed (Fit 4 AI) or the ministry has approved it (SME Packages).
Carry out the project, then get reimbursed
Payment is made after the project, on presentation of supporting documents.

Can my company get support to integrate AI?

Possibly, if it holds a business permit and has its registered office in Luxembourg. SME Packages – AI are reserved for SMEs; Fit 4 AI is open to companies of all sizes.

Your project’s eligibility is confirmed by the competent bodies, not by the provider.

What is the difference between Fit 4 AI and SME Packages – AI?

Fit 4 AI funds an assessment: use cases, feasibility, a costed action plan. It does not cover implementation.

SME Packages – AI support integrating an existing AI solution in an SME, for a project of €3,000 to €25,000 excl. VAT.

Is there support for automating administrative tasks?

SME Packages – AI target the integration of AI solutions into SMEs’ processes, and the House of Entrepreneurship mentions streamlining repetitive tasks with intelligent assistants.

Your specific case, such as processing invoices or emails, is reviewed during the pre-analysis.

Do I need to apply before starting the project?

Yes. For Fit 4 AI, the application must be filed before any commitment: the consultant’s quote must not be signed beforehand. For SME Packages – AI, the pre-analysis and the ministry’s approval come before implementation.

When is the grant paid?

After the project. For Fit 4 AI, you request payment on MyGuichet.lu with the invoices, proof of payment and the final report. For SME Packages – AI, you are reimbursed after implementation, once the final invoice has been paid.

Can the two programmes be used one after the other?

Fit 4 AI stops at the action plan; Luxinnovation can then point you to other forms of support for implementation. Both programmes fall under the EU de minimis rules, which cap this type of aid at €300,000 per company over three years.

Can SMART AI work on a project that receives a grant?

We can help you prepare your project and work on its design and integration where the programme rules allow it. For Fit 4 AI, the assessment must be carried out by a consultant referenced by Luxinnovation: each provider’s status can be checked in their directory.
